General & Company Questions

How long has Peachtree Landscape been serving the Atlanta area?

Peachtree Landscape has been a trusted part of the Atlanta community since 2002. For over 20 years we have provided expert commercial and residential landscaping services across Atlanta, growing from a single-employee operation into a premier full-service firm known for quality craftsmanship and sustainable practices.

Is Peachtree Landscape fully licensed and insured?

Yes. We carry comprehensive general liability and workers’ compensation insurance to protect our clients and our team, and we are happy to provide a Certificate of Insurance on request. Our professionals also hold key industry certifications from the Georgia Green Industry Association (GGIA) and the Irrigation Association, ensuring every project meets the highest standards for safety and expertise.

What services do you offer?

We are a full-service landscape firm. Our work spans landscape design and installation, lawn and landscape maintenance, irrigation design and repair, drainage solutions, hardscapes (patios, walkways, retaining walls, outdoor living spaces), landscape lighting, seasonal color, tree and shrub care, and commercial grounds and snow/ice management.

Do you serve both residential and commercial clients?

Yes. We work with homeowners as well as commercial and institutional clients, including office parks, retail and mixed-use centers, industrial and distribution sites, HOAs and multi-family communities, and institutional properties such as schools, hospitals, churches, and synagogues.

What areas of metro Atlanta do you serve?

We serve communities throughout Atlanta, including Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Brookhaven, Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Marietta, Kennesaw, Norcross, and the surrounding areas. Not sure if you’re in our service area? Give us a call and we’ll let you know.

Are your practices environmentally responsible?

Yes. Wherever possible we prioritize native and adapted plantings, water-efficient irrigation, healthy-soil practices, and integrated approaches to plant health that reduce unnecessary chemical use, an approach that is better for Georgia’s ecosystem and for your long-term maintenance costs.

Getting Started: Process, Estimates & Pricing

What is your typical project process?

Our process begins with a professional site consultation to understand your goals and budget. We then provide a detailed, transparent proposal. Once approved, our certified crews handle everything from permitting to installation, followed by a final walkthrough and optional long-term maintenance planning to ensure your investment thrives.

Do you offer free estimates or consultations?

Yes. We begin every relationship with an on-site consultation and a clear, itemized proposal so you know exactly what to expect before any work begins. Contact us to schedule your visit.

How much does a landscaping project cost?

Every property is different, so pricing depends on the scope, materials, site conditions, and access. Rather than quote a one-size-fits-all number, we provide a detailed written proposal after your site visit so the investment is transparent and tailored to your goals and budget. Please note that our residential project minimum is $2,500. Commercial projects depend on size—contact us for a detailed proposal.

Do you provide landscape design plans or 3D renderings?

Yes. For design and installation projects, we can prepare planting plans and visual concepts so you can see and refine your outdoor space before construction begins.

How long does a typical project take?

Timelines vary by scope. A refresh or planting project may take as little as one day, while a full design/build with hardscapes, drainage, and irrigation can take several weeks, especially when permitting or engineered drawings are required. We provide an estimated schedule in your proposal and keep you updated throughout.

Do you guarantee your plants and workmanship?

Yes. We stand behind our work and typically provide a warranty on installed plant material and workmanship. Specific terms are spelled out in your proposal, and proper watering and maintenance are required to keep the warranty in effect.

Plants, Lawns & Seasonal Care in Atlanta

What are the best plants for low-maintenance landscaping in North Georgia?

For Atlanta’s climate we recommend native species like Oakleaf Hydrangea, Georgia Aster, and Southern Magnolia. These plants are naturally adapted to our heat and “red clay” soil, so they require significantly less water and maintenance while supporting local pollinators like honeybees and butterflies.

What is the best type of grass for an Atlanta lawn?

It depends on sun and how you use the lawn. Warm-season grasses like Bermuda and Zoysia love Atlanta’s summer heat and full sun and go dormant (brown) in winter. Tall Fescue is a cool-season grass that stays green through our mild winters and tolerates shade better, but needs extra care to survive peak summer heat. We’ll recommend the right fit for your specific yard.

When is the best time to start a landscaping project in Atlanta?

Early fall (September–October) is the best time for planting trees and shrubs, because roots establish in warm soil before winter. Early spring (March–April) is a close second. For hardscape projects like patios and walls, our mild Georgia winters allow year-round construction without the ground-freeze delays common up North.

Do you offer fertilization and weed-control programs?

Yes. We offer seasonal turf and landscape health programs, including fertilization, weed and pest control, aeration, and overseeding, timed to Georgia’s growing calendar to keep your lawn and plantings healthy.

Mulch or pine straw—which is better for Atlanta yards?

Both work well here. Pine straw is economical, lightweight, and classic for Atlanta beds and slopes; hardwood mulch lasts longer, suppresses weeds, and enriches the soil as it breaks down. We’ll recommend based on your beds, slope, and the look you’re after, and refresh it seasonally.

Drainage, Hardscapes & Outdoor Living

How do you solve the “red clay” drainage issues common in Atlanta?

We solve Georgia’s red clay challenges with engineered drainage systems, including French drains, catch basins, and dry creek beds. Because clay is non-porous and holds water, we focus on subsurface redirection and soil amendments to prevent standing water, foundation damage, and erosion during our heavy rainy seasons.

Do I need a permit for a retaining wall in Atlanta?

In most local jurisdictions, such as Fulton County, Alpharetta, and Milton, a permit is required for any retaining wall over 4 feet in height, and walls over 6 feet typically require engineered drawings. Peachtree Landscape manages the entire permitting and engineering process to ensure your project is fully compliant with city and county codes.

What materials are best for a custom patio in Georgia?

We recommend Natural Flagstone, Bluestone, or high-end pavers (like Belgard) for Georgia patios. These materials handle our heat better than poured concrete, which is prone to cracking. For pool decks we often suggest Travertine, which stays naturally cooler under the intense Atlanta summer sun.

Do you build outdoor living spaces like fire pits, outdoor kitchens, and pergolas?

Yes. We design and build complete outdoor living environments, such as patios, fire pits and fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, seating walls, pergolas, and walkways, coordinated with your plantings, drainage, and lighting for a cohesive result.

Do you install landscape lighting?

Yes. Professional low-voltage LED lighting adds safety, security, and dramatic curb appeal, extending the enjoyment of your landscape into the evening. We design and install systems that highlight architecture, trees, and hardscapes.

Can you help with erosion control on sloped or hilly lots?

Absolutely. Metro Atlanta’s terrain and clay soils make erosion a common concern. We address it with retaining walls, terracing, proper grading, dry creek beds, ground covers, and strategic plantings that stabilize slopes and manage runoff.

Do you design and repair irrigation systems?

Yes. We design, install, audit, and repair efficient irrigation systems with smart controllers and rain sensors so your landscape gets the right amount of water while conserving resources and staying compliant with Georgia watering guidelines.

Commercial Services

Does Peachtree Landscape handle HOA and multi-family properties?

Yes. We specialize in managing high-traffic HOA and multi-family communities. We provide boards with 3-Year Site Improvement Plans to help forecast budgets, enhance common-area amenities, and improve resident satisfaction through consistent, high-quality maintenance and proactive communication.

Do you offer commercial grounds maintenance contracts?

Yes. We provide scheduled, full-service grounds maintenance for commercial, industrial, and institutional properties under clear, budget-friendly service agreements with a dedicated account contact.

Do you provide snow and ice management?

Yes. Atlanta’s occasional ice and snow events can shut a property down. We offer commercial snow and ice management, including monitoring, treatment, and clearing of lots and walkways, to keep your site safe, accessible, and liability-conscious during winter weather.

Can you provide certificates of insurance and meet vendor requirements for commercial clients?

Yes. We carry full commercial insurance and routinely meet the documentation, safety, and compliance requirements of property managers, REITs, and institutional clients.
